Dearest Friends,
Tragedy has struck Nigeria, Africa, once again. A sense of panic fills the air at this very moment. Paralyzed with fear, thousands of Christians targeted in the city of Jos are crying out to the Lord for protection. Sounds of gunfire in the streets, and screams from those in the churches that have been burned this past week, overwhelm the minds of each one facing persecution today.

They have no where to run right now, but to Jesus. Join with me and intercede on behalf of the Nigerians. God is in their midst and victory belongs to Him alone.

Updates, Stories, and Prayer Requests
Hi all,
Please be praying for Jos & Bukuru. I just talked with Ishaku. They are under a 24 hour curfew. No one can buy food (or phone cards [to contact others]). They are just sitting in their homes. The fighting is getting worse and now includes Bukuru. Ishaku said that Rev. Caleb at Jos Jarawa church was taken to the hospital because of stress and smoke inhalation. The fighting is bad around Jos Jarawa. Ishaku said the military came in and killed some Christians, but details are sketchy. One AG church in Bukuru was burned among others in Jos. No one knows much details because of the curfew. They just ask for prayer. Below are some of the reports from missionaries...
Ok Folks. We are under a 24 hr curfew. I am getting calls that there is big trouble in town. Hearing lots of gun fire again. Police Helicoptor has arrived. Reports that there are military troops being sent in from other states now. The Government has handled crises like this before and will no doubt bring it all under control. Gunfire is getting closer to here. -Stuart
Greetings. Four days after our safe arrival in Nigeria, the Muslims in Jos again started attacking Nigerian Christians. The police and military are trying to maintain order but there was again loss of life and property. This morning a 24-hour curfew was imposed on Jos and Bukuru. Our seminary campus is in a predominantly Christian area and we feel relatively safe, trusting in God's protection.
This is very sad. Clearly a segment of Islam has an imperialistic agenda, trying to make the entire world Muslim, using undemocratic means. But today our Fulani girl came here on foot bringing milk. She and her family are Muslim and peaceful.
There are many peaceful Muslims like her. Please pray for the city of Jos and the country of Nigeria. Please pray for peace. -Tim
We are glad to be back in Jos - safe in our home. We have been talking on the phone with friends in other parts of the city and things are still tense and there is a sense of desperation. Continue to pray. -Kyle
Welcome back. Right now we've had to repel attacks in the hostel in school. The body count is mounting. Some security personnel have been detailed, but that still hasn't stopped the attacks. -Emeka
Dear Friends. Unfortunately our Happy New Year here has been cut short with religious violence. It started a few days ago when a few churches were attacked and burned down and has gotten much worse this morning. We are safe, but many people are not and there are reports of dozens of deaths. Please pray with us for ...the preservation of life and that God will turn something bad into good. Thanks - Peter for all.

It's time! Our team left today for Jos, Nigeria, to participate in the third annual New Life for All Evangelism Conference. Please pray for Mike as he trains thousands of local evangelists. Men and women will be encouraged daily with Bible teaching and exhortation as they prepare to share the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout West Africa.

Evangelistic Training Conference in Jos, Nigeria
NEW LIFE FOR ALL EVANGELISM CONFERENCE In collaboration with
Next Generation Alliance/Luis Palau If there’s anything that could characterize our trip to Nigeria, it would be the contagious enthusiasm that Nigerian evangelists have in their hearts for Jesus.
The sight of the gathering crowds of Jos, Nigeria was enough to make the heart burst. They were pressing in from all over West Africa, not to hear a concert or to attend a sporting event, but to become blessed by God. This is an example of the intense passion in the hearts of Nigerian evangelists, and the MSI team was incredibly blessed to take part in it.
Reaching across West Africa, the event even attracted evangelists from as far as Niger, Cameroon and Chad. The whole team counted it a profound privilege to be able to lift up the name of Jesus Christ with people so eager to hear, who had come from so far. The Spirit of the Lord was moving there in a powerful way.
Passion for the evangelistic call: that was the all-encompassing drive of the event. Mike shared specifically on the urgency of that call, and of the intimacy with God that gives substance to that passion. The evangelists of West Africa have a huge task ahead of them—a huge opportunity.
All of them face hardships, and some of them are in danger of being martyred for their faith. Even so, there is no telling what the Lord will do in the lives of the 2,830 that attended the festival. Many will share their faith with hundreds—maybe thousands!
Since last year’s meeting, many evangelists were martyred for their faith . . . Yet they still come, still eager to learn and to be encouraged in the Lord. Next year we're praying for 5,000 evangelists to attend; 10,000 the following year, and Lord willing, one day our dream is to see the largest gathering of evangelists ever recorded!
The goal remains: be faithful to God’s call to reach out to the world and lift up those who are already doing so. This is the legacy of MSI. One day, the difference that the Lord has made this year will grow to reach all of Africa. Praise God for His faithfulness of bringing about this event, and for continuing to work in hearts across the globe!
