How To Give A Stock, Bond, Or Mutual Fund Gift To Mike Silva International

When you give stock, bonds, or mutual fund shares to Mike Silva International (MSI), you are supporting evangelism around the world. Donating appreciated securities has all of the benefits of a cash contribution and more.

If you have stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares that you have owned for more than one year, you may donate them to MSI and use their fair market value when gifted as the amount of your donation. This benefits both the MSI and you. You are not required to pay any capital gains taxes on the transaction because you have donated the security rather than sold it. And the MSI receives the full value of the stock, bond, or mutual fund shares to help advance our evangelistic ministry.

Planned Giving

When you go to be with the Lord, one of the greatest blessings you can leave to your family and the ministries that you have been involved with is a plan specifying what they will receive. You can do this through a will, trust, or other methods.

Naming Mike Silva International (MSI) in your will is easily done. A bequest provides MSI with an immediate gift at your death that will be used to help bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to people all over the world. You may give a specific dollar amount, designated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares, or a percentage of your total assets. Or you may give a personal item such as a home, jewelry, or car.

To name Mike Silva International in your will, you need to include a sentence similar to the following in your will:

"I/We leave to the Mike Silva International, Portland, Oregon, (a specified dollar amount, a specific percentage of assets, or number shares of stock, etc.)."

The precise wording is something you may wish to discuss with your attorney.

You may also give through what is called a Payable on Death Certificate (PDC). If you have money in bank accounts, CDs, mutual funds, or other financial instruments, you may chose to name MSI as the beneficiary on a Payable on Death Certificate. Your financial institution will provide you with the necessary forms. This type of gift transfers your assets directly to Mike Silva International as a charitable beneficiary, thus avoiding probate.

When you make a planned gift by putting MSI in your will or making the organization the beneficiary of a PDC, you are leaving a lasting legacy that demonstrates your love for the Lord and your heart for evangelism.
