Celebrate with Me

The psalmist writes:

We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds. –Psalm 75:1 NIV

I can truly tell you, your prayers and support for MSI have led countless people around the world to come near to God and to know of His mighty hand in their lives. Because of your unwavering dedication to lifting this ministry up to the Lord in prayer, many in Iquitos, Peru, now personally know this God we call our own.

The River Festival in Iquitos, Peru, was tremendously exciting. The response was positive beyond all of our hopes and prayers. Families, tribes, and individuals traveled the Amazon River all day in the hot sun and humidity just to be a witness to the move of God’s hand in Iquitos, Peru.

Of the roughly 45,000 people who attended, more than 20,000 recorded decisions for Christ were made. There were so many that we actually ran out of response cards! Local pastors are already hard at work in Iquitos, following up with the new disciples.

Rejoicing with you in the Lord,

Mike Silva

Testimony: Family Transformed

Mario and Estela took their three children to the festival on Saturday night so their kids could go to the children’s fiesta. What most people didn’t know was that Mario and Estela were planning to divorce. However, this couple stayed for the whole festival and heard the salvation message from Mike and together they accepted Christ. They no longer plan to divorce and they are happy that God gave them the opportunity to go to The River Festival. What a mighty God we serve!

Testimony: One Saved Soul

I want to share with you one other story. The day after the festival, some team members went into the community and met a young vendor whose face was buried in an Ephesians study book (the follow-up material that was distributed to each decision-maker). He shared his testimony while he attempted to bottle up his feelings after accepting Jesus into his heart. “Now I have peace, joy and contentment,” he said with a smile. The boy has no family in Iquitos and was alone at the festival, but left with an eternal relationship with Christ and will never be alone again.

These two stories are just a few of the dramatic changes that happened in Iquitos. For all the Lord has done, we are forever grateful!

Thank You

As we reflect on the momentous success of the festival in Peru, we thank you for the foundation of prayer you laid for us over the last year. Your support is a source of constant encouragement.
