Men’s Survival Kit:

How does a man endure temptation?
How does he stand up against temptation?
How does a man keep himself from yielding to temptation?
How does God help man bear temptation?

The Bible say’s in Matthew 26:41, “Stay alert; be in prayer so you don't wander into temptation without even knowing you're in danger…”

You cannot fight the devil’s temptation with your own strength, but rather you need the power of the Holy Spirit to be able to endure the temptations of this world.

See, when you watch and pray…

  1. God will give you the strength to endure the temptations that you face on a daily basis.   (1 Corinthians 10:13)

  2. God will give you the strength to resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

  3. God will give you the strength to walk in the Spirit so you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)

  4. God will give you the strength to yield your body as an instrument of righteousness, and not to sin. (Romans 6:13)

  5. God will give you the strength to put on the whole armor of God so that you will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-18)

  6. God will give you the strength to avoid all appearance of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22)

  7. God will give you the strength to overcome and be victorious over any temptations that you face. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

  8. God will give you of himself because God himself is our strength in times of temptation.

  • Exodus 15:2 says, “The Lord is my strength and song; He has become my salvation: He is my God…and I will exalt Him.”

  • 2 Samuel 22:33 says, “God is my strength and power and He makes my way perfect.”

  • Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid.”

  • Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

  • Psalm 73:26 says, “My flesh and my heart fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

  • Psalm 118:14 says, “The Lord is my strength and song and he has become my salvation.”

  • Isaiah 12:2 says, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation…”

  • Psalms 119:11 says, “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.”

This is how Jesus overcame the devil’s temptations in the wilderness.

What can you do this week to win and win big over sexual temptation?

  1. Carry an unused mouse trap in your pocket this week to remind you to avoid at all costs…sexual traps.

  2. Do not watch TV alone.

  3. Pray Matthew 26:41 everyday! "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

  4. Purchase and install an internet filter on your computer.

  5. When you “catch a glimpse” or have a fleeting sexual thought about a woman who is not your spouse…

  • Thank God for His creation!

  • Thank God for your wife or if that’s not applicable…Thank Him for your mother and or your grandmother. (Don’t laugh, it works!)

  • Thank God that this temptation is NOT from Him (James 1:13-14) it is self generated.

  • Thank God that you now see past the “bait” and focus directly on the consequences of sexual sin.
